NGA OUTING REVIEWS
JUNE 9TH @ Honeybrook GC - Best outing of the year! Finally great weather, a great conditioned course and cold beer! 20-NGA members & 2-guests were challenged by the course in Honey Brook Pa. Winning the "closest to the pin" on the 3rd hole, a 185 yard par-3 was Doug Heller. At the downhill 8th, a 205-yarder was guest Dave Newman coming up just 22 feet from the hole. Coming up with the top shot on the 10th, a long 227-yard par-3 was Harvey Taylor. Harveys tee shot stopped just 35-feet from the pin. At the short but demanding 13th, a 168-yarder, John Margincin hit the winning shot that stopped a mire 20-feet from the pin. Tying the 17th hole, a 181-yard par-3 was Tommy Boyce & Jeff Flaucher, both hitting their tee shots to 25-feet from the pin. (Word has it that Tommy 3-putted for a bogey) Honeybrook GC was in great shape, firm greens, plush tee boxes & fairways. The green fees ran everyone $59.00 with carts included. But the course didnt let anyone down. Challenging, but with plenty of room off the tees. Smooth, fast and immaculate greens! The only thing missing from this course was a beverage (girl) cart to keep everyone with an ample supply of his favorite beverage.
JUNE 23rd @ Center Valley GC - 11-NGA members & 1-guest teed it up at one of the best-conditioned courses in eastern Pa. We got a great green fee rate to go with this 4-star rated golf course. $45.00 that included unlimited golf & range balls. As always Center Valley GC was in impeccable shape. Quick greens that could rivaled any US Open greens. 88-degree weather welcomed the NGA to Center Valley as well as Joe the starter, as he announced each member to the 1st tee.Register a Handicap- Dont forget to turn your scorecard in after each round of golf you play! In order to get a handicap index; well need a minimum of five (5) current scorecards from every member. You can turn your scorecards in at each NGA meeting, or drop them off to Tommy Boyce at the Happy Hour on Monday, Wednesdays & Thursdays nights after 6pm. Or mail scorecards to the address below.
To be eligible to win one of the flights at the singles championship outing, each member must have a handicap index registered.
The 10-Minute Warm-up!
Youve heard the advice to get to the course early for a thorough pre-round preparation. But, things happen, and youve arrived only
10-minutes before your tee time. How can you get the most out of those 10-minutes? Do the following:
1. Go to the practice tee & stretch your lower back. (2-minutes)
2. Hit just 6-10 balls, without rushing. Hit half with an easy pitching wedge, half with a middle iron. (3-minutes)
3. Go to the edge of the practice green and hit several chip shots.
4. Hit 3-5 long putts to different targets. Just before you go to the tee, hit a few straight, uphill 3-foot putts to boost your confidence. (3-minutes)
