NGA OUTING REVIEWS FEBRUARY 17TH - SAND BARRENS GC

Eighteen (18) NGA members & guest were challenged by the course and 47-degree weather. Missing a 60-degree day by just 24-hours. The constant 10-MPH wind played havoc on most shots that flew above this tree-lined course. But the overall course conditions were great for the middle of winter. Sand Barrens was definitely named correctly! This 27-hole complex has 1.5 acres of sand bunkers per hole. But smooth bent grass greens and plush fairways made up for the many bunker shots each golfer hit. Cost for this upscale golf course during the peak rates is $105.00. Considering our green fees were only $52.00, we got a great price for a remarkable course!

MARCH 17TH BACK CREEK GC

The story line continues, once again we tee’d it up, missing a 60-degree winter day by 24-hours. As always, Back Creek was in top-condition! Pristine greens & fairways. The price for this club was the best part of the day, $37.00! A great price for this upscale golf course. I don’t know about anyone else in attendance, but this was the coldest golfing day I have ever experienced. Playing conditions was more suited for skiing! Once we were either near the homes or the trees that bordered this up-scale course, the wind was broke and it did take the breeze out of play. Coming up with the "Shot of the Day" was Curt Regitko. On the 405-YARD par-4 dog-leg left 10th hole, after a dismal 180-yard duck-hooked tee shot. Curt hit his second shot to the right side of the fairway just 71-yards from the green. Curt’s third shot, a pitch-shot landed 10-feet short of the hole, took one bounce, rolled, then disappeared into the cup for a birdie-three.

MARCH 29TH-2ND ANNUAL NGA GOOD FRIDAY OUTING WHITE OAKS GC

Spring weather finally showed up! Good Friday was welcomed with 48-degree temperatures at our first tee time. Warming things up with his club was Clay Kaulfeld. On the 155-yard par-3 4th, Clay almost hit the Nomads 1st hole-in-one! Hitting his tee shot off the flagstick, his shot ended up just 1-foot & 8-inches for a birdie! (Regretfully Clay, failed to enter in the closest to the pin fund that would have won Clay $30.00 for his feat.) At the 140-yard 12th, Tom Parent nailed his tee shot to 7’ 8" to win the $30. The last par-3, the demanding 208-yard 17th. Gary Kershaw drove the ball just 18-feet from the pin to take the purse. "Shot of the Day" was pulled of at the 552-yard par-5 dogleg left tenth hole. After his first three shots, Tom Bennett was 53-yards from the pin. After his 4th, he was headed for the 11th tee box! Chipping in for a birdie-4. The day warmed up like most of our swings. Golf season had finally arrived!

JOKE OF THE MONTH

TAKING A BREAK FROM THE GOLF CIRCUIT, TIGER WOODS DRIVES HIS VOLVO TO AN IRISH GAS STATION. THE ATTENDANT GREETS HIM IN A TYPICAL MATTER, UNAWARE WHO HE IS. "TOP O’ THE MORNING GOOD MAN." AS TIGER GETS OUT OF THE CAR, TWO TEES FALL OUT OF HIS POCKET. "SO, WHAT ARE THOSE, SON?" ASKS THE ATTENDANT. "THEY’RE CALLED TEES," REPLIES TIGER. "AND WHAT WOULD YA BE USIN ‘EM FOR, NOW?" INQUIRES THE IRISHMAN. "WELL, THEY’RE FOR RESTING MY BALLS ON WHEN I DRIVE," REPLIES TIGER. "JESUS, MARY AN’ JOSEPH!" EXPLAINS THE IRISHMAN, "THOSE FELLAS AT VOLVO THINK OF EVERYTHING!"
